How soon must we register a new employee with SPF?
The situation
Employers must register each new worker with the Social Protection Fund within 30 days of joining.
The law
- Social Protection Law, Royal Decree 52/2023: Omani staff: employer 14.5 percent, employee 8 percent; ceiling OMR 3,000 for pension and injury; pay by the 15th of next month
What it means for you
Register each new worker within 30 days of joining. Late registration can leave gaps in cover and lead to penalties. Make SPF registration part of the onboarding checklist.
What to do
- Collect the worker's ID and contract.
- Register the worker on the SPF portal.
- Confirm the registration.
- Start monthly contributions.
