The situation
JKP pays benefits to workers who lose their job, if they were enrolled in the BPJS programmes and meet contribution conditions.
The law
- PP 37/2021 on job loss benefit (JKP), as amended by PP 6/2025: JKP is funded by the government and a recomposition of JKK; workers must be in BPJS programmes to qualify
- Art 14 and 15, Law 24/2011 on BPJS: Every person, including a foreigner working at least 6 months in Indonesia, must join; employers must register their workers and pay contributions
What it means for you
The employer's records and contributions matter. Workers on contract may qualify in some cases. Help the worker with the claim documents. Example: a permanent worker enrolled for the required period who is laid off can claim cash benefit and job training support.
What to do
- Confirm the worker was enrolled.
- Give termination documents.
- Help with the claim.
- Close the worker's BPJS account.
Workers not enrolled lose JKP; the employer may face claims.
