NIB as importer identity

We plan to import goods. Is our NIB enough?

The situation

The NIB also serves as the importer identity number and customs access, if the right trading codes are registered.

The law

  • PP 28/2025 on risk-based business licensing: Replaces PP 5/2021; licences through OSS by risk level, with service level deadlines and automatic approval when an agency does not act in time

What it means for you

Make sure your KBLI covers wholesale or import trade and that the importer function is active in OSS. Some goods need extra import approvals. Import VAT and PPh 22 will be paid at customs and can be credited later.

What to do

  1. Check your KBLI covers the trade.
  2. Confirm the importer function in OSS.
  3. Check product specific import approvals.
  4. Plan for import VAT and PPh 22 credits.

Importing goods outside your KBLI can hold shipments at customs.

We can do this for youBusiness licence (NIB) through OSS RBA: choosing KBLI codes and meeting the risk level: IDR 2.500.000
