Do we pay the parallel fee again when renewing permits?

The situation

LMRA checks the ratio at renewal; additional fees apply where the ratio is not met.

The law

  • Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2016 as amended by Resolution No. 2 of 2019 (Parallel Bahrainisation): Employers below their Bahrainisation target can still get permits by paying BHD 500 (two years) or BHD 250 (one year) extra per permit

What it means for you

LMRA checks the ratio again at renewal. If you meet it, renewal is at normal fees. If not, extra fees apply; news reports describe BHD 250 at annual renewal. Improving your ratio before renewals cuts this cost.
