How do I find out how many Bahrainis my company must employ?

The situation

LMRA publishes a Bahrainisation target rate lookup table (2026 edition) by approved activity.

The law

  • Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2016 as amended by Resolution No. 2 of 2019 (Parallel Bahrainisation): Employers below their Bahrainisation target can still get permits by paying BHD 500 (two years) or BHD 250 (one year) extra per permit
  • Law No. 19 of 2006 regulating the labour market: LMRA issues, renews and cancels work permits for non-Bahraini workers

What it means for you

Targets vary by activity and size, so check every activity on your CR. The LMRA portal shows whether your establishment meets the required ratio. If it does, permits and renewals go at normal fees.

  2. Look up each target.
  3. Check status on the LMRA portal.
  4. Plan hiring.
