Budgeting Bahrainisation fees

We plan to hire 10 expats next year. How much extra if we are below target?

The situation

Parallel fees are BHD 500 per two year permit or BHD 250 per one year permit.

The law

  • Cabinet Resolution No. 27 of 2016 as amended by Resolution No. 2 of 2019 (Parallel Bahrainisation): Employers below their Bahrainisation target can still get permits by paying BHD 500 (two years) or BHD 250 (one year) extra per permit

What it means for you

Example: 10 two year permits at BHD 200 each is BHD 2,000. If you are below target, add BHD 500 each, so BHD 5,000 more, or BHD 7,000 in all before monthly fees. Hiring one or two Bahrainis may reduce this.
