GST threshold

Revenue reached S$1.1 million. Must I register?

The situation

Registration is required when taxable supplies exceed S$1 million.

The law

  • Goods and Services Tax Act 1993, Fourth Schedule: Registration required when taxable supplies exceed S$1 million (retrospective or prospective view)

What it means for you

Both a retrospective calendar year view and a prospective 12-month view apply. Exempt supplies do not count. Apply promptly. Example: supplies of S$1.1 million in the last calendar year trigger the retrospective test. Missing the 30-day window means GST may be due on supplies you made without charging it.

What to do

  1. Check taxable supplies.
  2. Apply both tests.
  3. Apply for GST.
  4. Update invoices.

We can do this for youGST registration (compulsory and voluntary): SGD 600
