Register with the GTA after getting the CR

We got our CR. Do we need to register with the tax authority even before profits?

The situation

Businesses must register with the GTA on Dhareeba; failing to register carries a QAR 20,000 penalty.

The law

  • Law No. 24 of 2018 on Income Tax (registration penalty): QAR 20,000 penalty for failing to register with the GTA
  • GTA Circular 5 (Dhareeba): From 1 November 2020 all returns, WHT and contract notifications are filed on Dhareeba

What it means for you

Register on Dhareeba as soon as the CR is issued, even before you earn anything. Registration gives you the TIN you need to file WHT from the first month you pay a foreign supplier. Leaving it until the first tax return risks the QAR 20,000 registration penalty and backlogs of unfiled WHT.

What to do

  1. Create a Dhareeba account.
  2. Register the company with CR details.
  3. Note the TIN.
  4. Set up WHT monthly checks.

We can do this for youMainland company setup through MOCI and the Single Window (LLC with foreign ownership): QAR 9,500
