Can I start a small business from my home in Qatar?

The situation

MOCI offers a home based business licence; the fee after 2024 is QAR 300 a year.

The law

  • Ministerial Decision No. 60 of 2024 (MOCI fees): CR and commercial licence fees cut to QAR 500 a year each; home business licence QAR 300

What it means for you

A home licence fits small activities such as crafts or online services allowed under the scheme. It is cheaper than a commercial licence. Tax and filing duties still apply if you are a foreign owner or pay foreign suppliers.

What to do

  1. Check activities allowed for home licences.
  2. Apply on Single Window.
  3. Pay QAR 300.
  4. Register with the GTA if needed.
