Fully Qatari owned company still has to file
My company is 100 percent Qatari owned and pays no tax. Do I still need to file on Dhareeba?
The situation
Profits owned by Qatari and GCC nationals are exempt, but the company must still file a tax return through Dhareeba.
The law
- Law No. 24 of 2018 and GTA filing rules for Qatari and GCC owned entities: The share of profit owned by Qatari and GCC nationals is exempt, but the entity still files
- Art. 24, Law No. 24 of 2018 on Income Tax: Late return penalty of QAR 500 per day, capped at QAR 180,000
What it means for you
Being exempt removes the tax, not the return. A missed return can attract the QAR 500 per day penalty up to QAR 180,000. Smaller companies can use a simplified return, while larger ones file the full form with audited accounts.
What to do
- Log in to Dhareeba and check open return periods.
- Choose the simplified or full return based on size.
- File by the four month deadline.
- Keep the acknowledgement for the tax compliance certificate.
