Years of missed filings by an exempt company

We never filed because we are Qatari owned. Now Dhareeba shows penalties. What should we do?

The situation

Each missed return can attract a daily penalty capped at QAR 180,000. The 2025 penalty exemption initiative ended on 31 December 2025.

The law

  • Art. 24, Law No. 24 of 2018 on Income Tax: Late return penalty of QAR 500 per day, capped at QAR 180,000
  • GTA financial penalty exemption initiative (1 March to 31 December 2025): 100 percent relief of eligible penalties for 2014 to 2024 if returns filed and tax paid; window closed 31 December 2025

What it means for you

Penalties stop growing only when the return is filed, so file every open year now. If penalties already show in your account, ask the GTA whether any current relief applies, but do not wait for one. Five missed years can mean very large balances; for example 180 days late per year is QAR 90,000 a year.

What to do

  1. List all open years in Dhareeba.
  2. File each year with the right form.
  3. Ask the GTA about any relief in force.
  4. Set up yearly filing reminders.

We can do this for youTax return for a fully Qatari or GCC owned company (simplified or full return): QAR 3,000
