Grow it

Tax: Creator income
Return: ITR-4 (Sugam) with presumptive income, or ITR-3
- Ad revenue, brand deals, affiliate commission and fan money are business income.
- Most creators can use Sec 58 of the Income-tax Act 2025 (old Sec 44AD) and declare 6% of digital receipts as profit, or more. Some, such as film artists, may fit the professional route instead. A Savvy confirms which.
- Free products and paid trips from brands count as income too. Brands deduct TDS on them (Sec 393 of the 2025 Act, old Sec 194R). Check your AIS.
- Money from YouTube and other foreign platforms is still taxable in India. Keep the payment advice for each month.
- Disclose paid promotions clearly, as the government endorsement guidelines and ASCI rules require.
GST for clients abroad
Services to clients outside India, paid in foreign currency, are exports and carry no GST. Below ₹20 lakh you need not register. Once registered, file a Letter of Undertaking (LUT) each year so you can invoice exports without GST.
