Find

Reporting entities sometimes report against the wrong PAN. You can mark the entry as 'Information is denied' or 'Information relates to other PAN/Year'. The entry stays visible, but the processed value in TIS can change after feedback.

Provisions

Sec 285BB (now Sec 510); Rule 114-I, Income-tax Rules 1962

Analysis

First make sure it really is not yours: old accounts, joint accounts and minor accounts linked to your PAN can surprise you. If it is truly not yours, give feedback and keep a note. If ₹12,000 of interest is shown and you deny it, do not include it in your ITR. If a notice comes later, your feedback record helps your reply.

Close
