System outage during e-invoicing
Our system went down and we could not send e-invoices. What must we do?
The situation
The rules require you to notify the FTA of a system failure within two business days.
The law
- Ministerial Decision 243 of 2025 on the Electronic Invoicing System: Scope, exclusions and obligations for e-invoicing
- Cabinet Decision 106 of 2025 on e-invoicing penalties: Penalties for late adoption, late e-invoices and failures to notify
What it means for you
The reported penalty for late notification is AED 1,000 per day. Example: an outage on Monday must be reported by Wednesday. Keep a log of the outage, the cause and the invoices affected, and send them once the system is back.
What to do
- Log the outage start and end time.
- Notify the FTA within two business days.
- Queue affected invoices.
- Send them once the system recovers.
