PDF invoices after go-live

We email PDF invoices. Will that still be valid once e-invoicing starts?

The situation

No. An e-invoice under the UAE system is a structured data file exchanged through ASPs in the PINT AE format, not a PDF.

What it means for you

You can still send a PDF copy for convenience, but the legal invoice is the structured one sent through the network. Example: a services firm moving to e-invoicing in July 2027 must issue each invoice through its ASP; its customer receives it through their own ASP. Plan for both sending and receiving.

What to do

  1. Check whether your software can produce structured invoices.
  2. Agree integration with your ASP.
  3. Tell customers about the change.
  4. Keep PDF copies only as visual copies.
