XBRL deadline
When is XBRL due?
The situation
XBRL is filed with the annual return, within 7 months after year end.
The law
- Companies Act 1967 and ACRA XBRL filing requirements: Companies filing financial statements file them in XBRL format (full or simplified) unless exempt
- Sec 197, Companies Act 1967: Annual return filed within 7 months after financial year end
What it means for you
Start XBRL soon after accounts are final. Late XBRL means a late AR. A late XBRL file delays the annual return, which then attracts late lodgement penalties. Allow time for validation and fixes before the 7-month deadline.
What to do
- Finalise accounts.
- Prepare XBRL.
- Validate.
- File with AR.
