XBRL comparatives

Do we need last year figures in XBRL?

The situation

XBRL includes comparatives as in the financial statements.

The law

  • Companies Act 1967 and ACRA XBRL filing requirements: Companies filing financial statements file them in XBRL format (full or simplified) unless exempt

What it means for you

Use last year's file to save time. If last year was restated, update comparatives. Mismatches with the PDF accounts cause problems. Restatements need a note in the financial statements and matching XBRL data. Reusing last year's file speeds up the work and keeps tags consistent.

What to do

  1. Load last year's data.
  2. Update restated items.
  3. Validate.
  4. File.
