ECI deadline

When is ECI due?

The situation

Companies file ECI within 3 months after their financial year end.

The law

  • Income Tax Act 1947: Estimated Chargeable Income: ECI filed within 3 months after financial year end; waiver if revenue up to S$5 million and ECI nil

What it means for you

For a 31 December year end, file by 31 March. Filing early may give more GIRO instalments. Missing it lets IRAS raise an estimated assessment. IRAS may grant extensions only in limited cases. ECI is an estimate, so it can be revised later if the final figure differs.

What to do

  1. Prepare draft P&L.
  2. Estimate chargeable income.
  3. File on myTax Portal.
  4. Set GIRO.
