QFC late filing waiver
We filed our QFC return late for a good reason. Can the penalty be waived?
The situation
QFC may grant a waiver for a reasonable excuse after filing, at its discretion.
The law
- QFC Tax Regulations and Rules: QFC entities pay QFC tax; returns due six months after period end; extension up to four months on request
What it means for you
File the return first so the late period stops growing, then send the waiver request with evidence such as hospital records or proof of a system outage. QFC decides each case on its merits and may refuse. Budget for the sanction in case the request fails.
