AIS sale values differ from my broker statement

Updated . Every paid answer is checked by a CA. Free AI answers are labelled until a CA verifies them.

Find

AIS shows what brokers and registrars reported, often gross values that may include duplicates or cover a different period. Your return should use the actual transaction figures from your statements. Reconcile the two and give AIS feedback for wrong entries.

Provisions

Sec 48 (now Sec 72); Rule 37BA, Income-tax Rules 1962 (now Rule 203)

Analysis

Common gaps come from intraday trades counted as sales, bonus or split adjustments, or both a demat and a fund house reporting the same redemption. Use the broker report for each transaction, but make sure total sale value in Schedule CG is close to AIS so CPC does not raise a mismatch. Give AIS feedback for duplicates. Keep a reconciliation sheet with your records.

Close

  1. Download AIS and the broker report for the same period.
  2. Match totals and list differences.
  3. Give AIS feedback for wrong or duplicate lines.
  4. File using actual figures and keep the reconciliation.
