WPS salary file rejected by the bank
The bank rejected our WPS file this month. How do we fix it and still pay on time?
The situation
WPS files are checked against employer and employee identity data. Errors stop the payment run.
The law
- Wage Protection System (Ministry of Labour): Wages paid through banks via WPS so the Ministry can check timely payment
What it means for you
Most rejections come from a wrong QID, an IBAN that does not belong to the worker, or a missing establishment ID match. Fix the data in your payroll master and resend the file the same day. If payday will slip, tell staff in writing and pay as soon as the corrected file clears, because repeated late wages draw Ministry attention.
What to do
- Read the rejection reason from the bank.
- Correct the employee or employer data.
- Resend the file.
- Check the status report after processing.
