Corporate tax deadline for a December year end in Qatar
Our year ends 31 December. By when must the Qatar tax return be filed and paid?
The situation
Qatar returns are due within four months after the accounting period ends. Tax is paid on the same date.
The law
- Law No. 24 of 2018 on Income Tax (tax returns): Return due within four months after the accounting period ends; GTA may extend by up to four months
- Law No. 24 of 2018 on Income Tax (late payment): 2 percent of unpaid tax for each month or part of a month, capped at the tax due
What it means for you
For a 31 December 2025 year end the return and payment are due on 30 April 2026. The GTA can extend the filing date by up to four months if you ask before the deadline, but plan as if no extension will come. Late payment costs 2 percent of the unpaid tax for each month or part month, so paying QAR 100,000 two weeks late still costs QAR 2,000.
What to do
- Put 30 April in your calendar with a 3 week buffer.
- Book the audit to finish by early April.
- If the audit will be late, request an extension on Dhareeba before 30 April.
- Pay the tax on or before the due date even if filing is extended where possible.
