Gratuity under the old law

How are years before the new labour law counted?

The situation

Old law: 15 days' wage for each of the first three years, then one month for each later year.

The law

  • Labour Law RD 53/2023 and MOL circular (August 2026) on gratuity: Non-Omanis not under the Social Protection Law: at least one basic wage per year under the new law; old law periods 15 days a year for the first 3 years then one month

What it means for you

For old law periods: 15 days' wage for each of the first three years, then one month for each later year. On OMR 600 basic, 3 years x 15 days is about OMR 900 and 2 more years x OMR 600 is OMR 1,200, so OMR 2,100 for those years. Add new law years on top.
