What comes with a Jan Dhan account: • Zero minimum balance, no non-maintenance charges • Free ₹2L accident insurance (via RuPay debit card, card must be used at least once every 90 days to keep cover active) • ₹30,000 life cover (for accounts opened between August 28, 2014 and January 26, 2015, check if yours qualifies) • ₹10,000 overdraft facility (for accounts active for 6 months with satisfactory transaction history, apply at branch) • DBT gateway, all government benefits direct to this account. RuPay card activation: Use the RuPay card for one transaction every 90 days to keep the ₹2L insurance active. Even buying anything for ₹1 from a merchant keeps the cover alive.
