Visa quota in a free zone package
My package says one visa. Can I add visas for my spouse and an employee later?
The situation
Each free zone package comes with a set visa allocation linked to the desk or office. Dependents are sponsored separately and do not use the company quota in most zones.
The law
- Federal immigration rules administered by ICP and GDRFA: Company visas follow the establishment card and allocation
What it means for you
To add employee visas you usually upgrade the desk or office. Market guides price each extra visa at about AED 3,500 to 4,500 plus medical and Emirates ID. Your spouse is sponsored on your own residence visa as a dependant if your salary or income meets the threshold. Example: a RAKEZ SME package with one visa needs an upgrade before the first hire. Ask the zone in writing what the upgrade costs.
What to do
- Check your current visa allocation.
- Ask the zone for upgrade options and fees.
- Sponsor family on your own visa as dependants.
- Register new staff with WPS once they join.
