Effect of InvoiceNow on the GST return

Once we use InvoiceNow, do we still file the GST F5?

The situation

Yes. InvoiceNow transmits invoice data to IRAS; it does not replace the GST F5 return.

The law

  • GST InvoiceNow Requirement (IRAS e-Tax Guide and FAQ): Voluntary registrants from 1 Apr 2026 must transmit invoice data through InvoiceNow; phased to all registrants by 1 Apr 2031
  • Goods and Services Tax Act 1993 and GST (General) Regulations: GST return (GST F5) and payment within one month after each accounting period

What it means for you

Data must reach IRAS by the earlier of the actual filing date or the due date of the return. IRAS can then match return figures with invoice data. Reconcile the two each quarter to avoid queries.

What to do

  1. Transmit all in-scope invoice data.
  2. Reconcile it with the GST F5 totals.
  3. File the return.
  4. Investigate gaps before filing.

We can do this for youQuarterly GST F5 returns: SGD 350
