What trips people up

  • Challan tagged to wrong quarter or section, or left unconsumed

Map deductions to the right challan; use Tag/Replace Challan or challan correction on TRACESSource

  • Employee PAN missing or inoperative but normal rate applied

Deduct at the higher rate under Sec 397(2) or fix PAN; otherwise a short deduction default followsSource

  • Errors flagged at preliminary check put statement on hold

Correct through online correction within 7 days or the statement is processed with defaultsSource

  • Trying to edit a filed statement

Not allowed; file a correction after CPC-TDS processes the originalSource

  • Filing Form 138 for an old quarter of FY 2025-26

Periods up to 31 March 2026 still use Form 24QSource

  • Q4 processing delayed, so Form 16 could not be generated

Track processing on TRACES and raise Request for Resolution; KSCAA flagged this to CBDT in June 2026Source
