What trips people up

  • Portal keeps prompting for MGT-7A when filing MGT-7, or loops between the two

Check small company status and the company category in master data; raise a helpdesk ticket if it loopsSource

  • Prefilled authorised share capital is wrong

MGT-7 does not update master data; file SH-7 or INC-28 to correct, or raise a ticketSource

  • Shareholder Excel upload fails or file will not open

Use the Excel generated by the portal, keep MGT-7A Excel under 2 MB, retry laterSource

  • AGM date mismatch with AOC-4 blocks submission and can attract ROC penalty

Copy AGM date, due date and extended due date exactly from the approved AOC-4Source

Only listed companies or those with paid-up capital of ₹10 crore or more or turnover of ₹50 crore or more need MGT-8.Source
