Exit and re-entry visa for staff on leave

My employee is going home on leave. What visa does he need?

The situation

Expat employees need an exit and re-entry visa issued by the employer through Muqeem or Absher before travelling.

The law

  • Developed Nitaqat Programme (Ministerial Decision 182495; Procedural Guide 2026): Required Saudi percentage depends on entity size and activity; bands Platinum, Green levels and Red

What it means for you

Issue the visa for the leave period with a buffer. If the employee does not return in time, the visa lapses and his status must be resolved. Check that the Iqama will be valid when he returns, and renew first if needed.

What to do

  1. Check Iqama validity.
  2. Issue the exit and re-entry visa on Muqeem.
  3. Record return date in HR files.
