Arabic accounts
Must audited accounts be in Arabic?
The situation
For years from 2020, accounts filed with the GTA must be in Arabic.
The law
- Executive Regulations of Law No. 24 of 2018 (audited financial statements): Audited IFRS accounts must go with the return if capital exceeds QAR 200,000, income exceeds QAR 500,000 or the head office is abroad; accounts in Arabic from 2020
What it means for you
For tax years from 2020, an English only set can be treated as incomplete. Ask the auditor to issue an Arabic or bilingual report and put that in the engagement letter. Review key figures in the Arabic version before upload.
What to do
- Add Arabic to engagement.
- Review translation.
