Settling staff before closing
What must we do for employees before closing?
The situation
Final dues, including gratuity, must be paid and work permits handled with the Ministry of Labour.
The law
- Labour Law RD 53/2023 and MOL circular (August 2026) on gratuity: Non-Omanis not under the Social Protection Law: at least one basic wage per year under the new law; old law periods 15 days a year for the first 3 years then one month
- Social Protection Law, Royal Decree 52/2023: Omani staff: employer 14.5 percent, employee 8 percent; ceiling OMR 3,000 for pension and injury; pay by the 15th of next month
