Foreign income for residents
Will my rental income in India be taxed in Oman?
The situation
Residents are taxed on worldwide income, with a credit for foreign tax paid.
The law
- Personal Income Tax Law, Royal Decree 56/2025 (rate and threshold): 5 percent on income above OMR 42,000 a year; residents taxed on worldwide income after 183 days
What it means for you
If you are resident, foreign rent counts toward the OMR 42,000 test and taxable income. Foreign tax paid can be credited, capped at the Oman tax on that income. Keep foreign tax receipts and rental statements.
What to do
- List foreign income.
- Keep foreign tax receipts.
