Audit finishing after the tax deadline

Our Kuwait audit will finish in May but the tax return is due in April. What do we do?

The situation

The return is due by the 15th day of the 4th month, and an extension of up to 60 days may be requested in certain cases.

The law

  • Income Tax Law and Executive Bylaws: declaration and payment: Declaration due by the 15th day of the 4th month after year end; 60 day extension possible; tax paid with the return or in four instalments on the 15th of the 4th, 6th, 9th and 12th months

What it means for you

Request the extension before the deadline. With an extension, tax is paid in one lump sum when it expires. Plan the next audit earlier to keep the instalment option.

What to do

  1. Request the extension before the due date.
  2. Finish the audit.
  3. File within the extension.
  4. Pay in one lump sum.
