NIK not valid when activating Coretax

NIK saya ditolak waktu aktivasi Coretax, katanya tidak valid. What should I do?

The situation

Coretax checks your NIK against the population registry (Dukcapil). If your NIK, name or birth date in DJP records does not match Dukcapil, activation stops.

The law

  • Art 2, Law 6/1983 on General Provisions and Tax Procedures (KUP Law), as last amended by Law 6/2023: Every taxpayer must register for an NPWP; for resident individuals the NIK serves as the NPWP (Art 2(1a))
  • PMK 81/2024 on tax provisions for implementing the Core Tax Administration System (Coretax): In force 1 January 2025; Coretax registration, returns, payment due dates aligned to the 15th of the following month, prepopulated returns and deposit balance

What it means for you

The NIK is your NPWP only once the DJP has validated it. Most failures come from an old address, a name spelt differently on the old NPWP, or a new KTP not yet synced. Fix the Dukcapil data first if your KTP is wrong, then ask the DJP to update your taxpayer data. Example: your old NPWP says 'Muhamad' but your KTP says 'Muhammad'; the tax office must correct the master file before Coretax accepts the NIK.

What to do

  1. Check your KTP data at the local Dukcapil office or app and correct it if needed.
  2. Call Kring Pajak 1500200 or visit your tax office (KPP) with KTP and family card to request a data update.
  3. Try activation again at coretaxdjp.pajak.go.id once the update is confirmed.
  4. Keep the request receipt in case your employer asks why your NIK is not yet valid.

Until validation, your employer may withhold PPh 21 at the higher no NPWP rate.

We can do this for youIndividual tax number: NIK as NPWP, NPWP for foreigners and Coretax account activation: IDR 300.000
