Find

CMP-08 is the quarterly statement through which a composition taxpayer declares turnover and pays tax. It is due by the 18th of the month after each quarter: 18 July, 18 October, 18 January and 18 April.

Provisions

Sec 39(2), CGST Act 2017; Rule 62, CGST Rules 2017

Analysis

Unlike regular taxpayers, you do not file GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B. CMP-08 acts as both statement and payment. At year end you file GSTR-4, which picks up the CMP-08 figures. Even a quarter with no sales needs a nil CMP-08.

Close

  1. Note the four CMP-08 dates in your calendar.
  2. Total turnover for the quarter from your bill of supply register.
  3. Compute tax at your composition rate.
  4. File CMP-08 and pay by the 18th.
