If the TDS sits under another PAN, it will not appear in your Form 26AS, and CPC cannot give credit. The deductor must correct its TDS statement first. After the credit shows in your 26AS, a rectification request fixes the intimation.

Provisions

Sec 154 (now Sec 287); Sec 200A (now Sec 399); Sec 192 (now Sec 392)

Analysis

Write to the employer with your PAN and the quarter and amount, for example ₹45,000 in Q3. The employer files a correction statement on TRACES; it can take a few weeks to reflect. Once 26AS shows the ₹45,000, file Tax Credit Mismatch Correction. If the employer refuses, you can raise a grievance and use the Form 16 and salary slips as proof in any reply.

Close

  1. Ask the employer or deductor in writing to correct the PAN in its TDS statement
  2. Check 26AS on TRACES every two weeks
  3. Once credit appears, file Tax Credit Mismatch Correction
  4. Mark the demand as disputed in the meantime
