A change in your principal place of business inside the same State is an amendment, not a new registration. It is a core field, so it needs officer approval after you file REG-14.
Rule 19(1), CGST Rules 2017; Sec 28, CGST Act 2017
Rule 19(1) asks you to file REG-14 within 15 days of the change with proof of the new premises. Because principal place of business is a core field, the officer approves it in REG-15, usually within 15 working days. Example: you moved from Lajpat Nagar to Okhla on 1 November; file by 15 November with the new rent agreement and an electricity bill. Until approval, your certificate still shows the old address, so keep the filed ARN handy for buyers who ask.
Do not wait for a notice; core changes filed late can still be processed, but the effective date cannot be backdated without permission.
