Refund not received after rectification order

Updated . Every paid answer is checked by a CA. Free AI answers are labelled until a CA verifies them.

Find

A rectification order that determines a refund sends it for payment to your pre-validated bank account. If the account is not validated, or the name or IFSC does not match PAN records, the refund fails. Refunds can also be set off against other demands after notice.

Provisions

Sec 154 (now Sec 287); Sec 244A (now Sec 437); Sec 245 (now Sec 438)

Analysis

Open the refund status for the year. If it shows refund failed, pre-validate the bank account under My Profile and raise a refund reissue request. If it shows adjusted, a Sec 245 set off has happened and you should check the other demand. If it shows paid, ask the bank with the date and amount. Interest under Sec 244A on the ₹31,000 is generally added by CPC, so check the figure in the order.

Close

  1. Check refund status under the e-Filing dashboard or e-File > Income Tax Returns > View Filed Returns
  2. Pre-validate or update the bank account if the refund failed
  3. Raise a refund reissue request under Services
  4. If adjusted, review the other demand and respond
