Rectification request rejected by CPC

Updated . Every paid answer is checked by a CA. Free AI answers are labelled until a CA verifies them.

Find

If a rectification request is rejected on the portal, the FAQ allows you to send a request to the Jurisdictional Assessing Officer with your reason and a PDF attachment. You can also appeal the CPC order to the Commissioner (Appeals).

Provisions

Sec 154 (now Sec 287); Sec 246A (now Sec 357)

Analysis

Read the rejection reason. If CPC says the TDS is still not in 26AS, nothing will change until the deductor corrects its statement. If CPC simply repeated a wrong computation, for example refusing a ₹50,000 standard deduction on salary, file a request to the JAO with a short note and the Form 16. If the amount is large, file the appeal within 30 days in parallel so you do not lose the appeal route while the AO decides.

Close

  1. Download the rectification order and read the reason code
  2. Fix any underlying data issue first, such as TDS not in 26AS
  3. File Services > Rectification > Request to AO with a one page note and documents
  4. If the demand is material, file Form 35 within 30 days to protect the appeal
