Find

The officer can raise a query in REG-03 within 15 working days of your application. You reply in REG-04 within 7 working days of the notice.

Provisions

Rule 19(2) to 19(5), CGST Rules 2017; Rule 19(1), CGST Rules 2017

Analysis

Rule 19(2) to 19(5) set the query and reply timelines. Most queries on address changes ask for clearer possession proof, a signed consent letter from the owner or a matching utility bill. If you reply on time and the officer does not act within 7 working days of your reply, the amendment is deemed approved. If you do not reply, the officer can reject it in REG-05.

Close

  1. Read the REG-03 to see exactly which document or clarification is asked.
  2. Prepare the missing document, for example an owner's consent letter with the owner's ID.
  3. File the reply in REG-04 on the portal under Services, Registration, Application for Filing Clarifications.
  4. Upload documents in clear PDF and keep the acknowledgement.
  5. Track the status for approval or deemed approval.

Missing the 7 working day reply window usually leads to rejection.
