First-year compliance calendar for a new company

My company is licensed. What filings will I have in the first year?

The situation

A new UAE company has licence, tax, beneficial owner and payroll duties that start at different dates. Missing any of them brings fixed penalties.

The law

  • Art 53, Federal Decree-Law 47 of 2022: Corporate Tax return due within 9 months of the end of the tax period
  • Cabinet Resolution 109 of 2023: Keep and file the beneficial owner register
  • Federal Decree-Law 33 of 2021: Wages paid through the approved system

What it means for you

Typical year one: Corporate Tax registration within 3 months, beneficial owner filing with the registrar, WPS salary runs every month if you have staff, VAT returns 28 days after each period once registered, licence renewal before expiry, and the first Corporate Tax return 9 months after your first financial year ends. Example: a company with a 31 December 2026 year end files its first Corporate Tax return by 30 September 2027.

What to do

  1. Write down licence expiry and financial year end.
  2. Add Corporate Tax registration and return dates.
  3. Add VAT dates if registered.
  4. Add WPS payroll dates if you employ staff.
  5. Review the calendar every quarter.
